Google Selects 20 AI-Powered Startups for 2026 Play Accelerator India

Google has announced the 2026 cohort of Google Play Accelerator India, selecting 20 AI-powered startups for a three-month, equity-free support program.

The August 3 announcement says participating companies are working across agriculture, healthcare, education, gaming and payments.

Google says the accelerator will provide support in areas such as AI integration, app quality, security, growth and monetization.

For Indian developers, the program highlights a broader trend: AI is increasingly being used to solve practical local problems rather than being treated as a standalone feature.

Even startups outside the accelerator can learn from the areas Google is emphasizing, including app quality, trust, security, responsible AI integration and sustainable monetization.
